    NexGard (afoxolaner) is medication for dogs and puppies that are at least 8 weeks old and weigh at least 4 pounds (lbs). It is available to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian to:

    • Kill adult fleas
    • Prevent and treat flea infestations
    • Prevent, treat, and control certain ticks


    NexGard is available in soft chewables that are beef flavored. The chewables come in 4 sizes (11.3 mg, 28.3 mg, 68 mg or 136 mg afoxolaner) for oral administration to dogs and puppies based on their weight.

    Directions

    Administer NexGard to your dog as directed by your veterinarian. Your veterinarian will determine an appropriate dosage based on how much your dog weighs.

    NexGard for dogs is given by mouth once a month. You may give it with or without food. Ensure that your dog takes the full dose. If you suspect that your dog did not complete the full dose or if your dog vomits within two hours of administration, you may give your dog another full dose. If a dose is missed, you may give your dog NexGard and continue on a monthly dosing schedule.

    Keep NexGard at or below 30°C (86°F); keep away from children and other animals.

    • The safety of NexGard has not been assessed in pregnant, lactating, or breeding dogs.

    Vomiting has been the most commonly reported NexGard side effect; however, other side effects may occur.
