Revolution (selamectin) is a topical medication used for dogs that are six weeks of age or older to:
- Prevent and control flea infestations
- Prevent heartworm disease
- Treat and control ear mite infestations
- Treat and control sarcoptic mange
- Control tick infestations
Revolution comes in different strengths for dogs with varying weights; the medication is dispensed in single dose tubes to be used by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
Directions
Administer Revolution to your dog as your veterinarian has directed. The veterinarian will determine an appropriate dosage for your dog based on its weight. The veterinarian or veterinary technician will teach you how to properly apply Revolution topically on your dog.
Revolution is typically administered one time a month onto dry, unbroken skin at the base of the dogās neck in front of the shoulder blades. The product should not be massaged into the skin. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water after applying, as the medication can cause skin or eye irritation.
Store Revolution below 30Ā°C (86Ā°F) and out of reach of children and other animals.
Refer to the medication leaflet that comes with the prescription for further instructions for use.

- Revolution is not for human use.
- Revolution is flammable; stay away from heat, sparks, and flames.
- Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections before they receive Revolution. Dogs that are infected require treatment to eliminate adult heartworms before beginning Revolution therapy.
- Revolution is not effective against adult D. immitis heartworms and does not clear microfilariae.
- Revolution should not be administered to dogs that are sick, debilitated, or underweight.
Side Effects
Revolution side effects in dogs include but are not limited to lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, generalized itching, seizures, application site reactions (including hair loss, lesions, redness, itching, and inflammation), tremors, problems with coordination, death, and dermatitis.
Call your veterinarian right away if your dog experiences side effects.
