Simparica Trio (sarolaner, moxidectin and pyrantel) is a medication used by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. It is used in dogs and puppies that are 8 weeks of age and older and weigh 2.8 pounds or more to:
- Prevent heartworm disease
- Treat and control roundworm and hookworm infections
- Treat and prevent flea infestations
- Treat and control tick infestations
- Prevent Borrelia burgdorferi tick infections
Simparica Trio for dogs comes in flavored chewable tablets of different strengths for dogs of different weights.
Directions
Administer Simparica Trio as directed by your veterinarian, who will tell you how much your dog should take based on its weight.
Simparica Trio chewable tablets are administered once a month. Ensure your dog consumes the full dose. If a dose is missed, immediately administer Simparica Trio and continue with monthly dosing.

Cautions

- Simparica Trio should not be used in humans. Keep out of reach of children and other animals; store at temperatures below 30°C (86°F).
- Sarolaner, an isoxazoline and one of the active ingredients in Simparica Trio, has been known to cause neurologic adverse reactions such as tremors, coordination problems, and seizures. Seizures have occurred in dogs receiving isoxazoline medications, even in dogs that did not have a history of seizures. Caution should be used in dogs that have had seizures or neurologic problems.
- Your dog should be tested and treated for existing heartworm infections before starting Simparica Trio, as Simparica Trio does not work against adult D. immitis heartworms.
- The safety of Simparica Trio has not been assessed in dogs that are breeding, pregnant, or lactating.
Side Effects
Vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, anorexia, increased urination, hyperactivity, and excessive thirst are possible Simparica Trio side effects. Contact your veterinarian immediately if your dog has side effects.
